Salil hosted Kat, Dan, and me for a wonderful meal and wine dinner.
He made his braised beef ragu and fresh pasta which he slow cooks all day.
It was an excellent match with the reds.

-
2015 Henri Jouan Morey St. Denis Vieilles Vignes -
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis
[Pop and pour.] Beautiful nose of dried red fruits and brambles.
Complex cherries, strawberries, and mulch in the mid palate. Expansive.
Really impressive for a village wine. (93 points)
-
2008 Alessandro e Gian Natale Fantino Barolo Riserva Bussia Cascina Dardi -
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
[Double-decanted for 2 hours around 3pm. Tasted starting around 7pm.]
Lovely nose of smoke, roses, forest floor. In the mouth, full, balanced,
elegant with light red fruits and some mulch. Long cherry finish.
Drinking quite well now, which seems typical of 2008s.
Should drink well for at least another decade.
An incredible value in traditional Barolo. (94 points)
Dessert
Kat's tiramisu was so good, I forgot to take a photo, but
it looked a lot like this on my plate seconds before it was gone.

1991 Maculan Acininobili - Italy, Veneto, Breganze
[Pop and pour.] Dark amber color. Gorgeous in the nose and mouth.
Long, complex, some botrytis. Just a beautiful wine.
Happy that it held up so well. My last bottle. (93 points)
Conclusion
A delightful evening of food, wine, and friends.
