Special Six-Packs of Double Magnums

Also, 3-liter bottles of Impostor McCoy were sold in two six-packs. Each six-pack was presented in a mahogany box created by the acclaimed artist Nelsen Valentine, inlaid with Manfred's original print (Number 1 of 6) of the woodcut for the label art. Only two such six-packs were produced.

If you have a photo of one of these boxes, please send it.

One such box of six magnums sold at a Christie's auction on 24 June 2000 in Los Angeles for $8,050. Here is their description:

Winemaker/artist/businessman Manfred Krankl and his wife Elaine have created the ultimate collectible for lovers of great (and that almost always means rare) California Syrah: a double-magnum six-pack of the heralded 1997 "Impostor McCoy" Syrah. The six-pack is presented in a mahogany box created by the acclaimed artist Nelsen Valentine, inlaid with Manfred's original print (Number 1 of 6) of the woodcut for the label art. Only two such six-packs were produced. A single signed double-magnum of the same wine provides a potential consolation prize to underbidders.
