Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Martinenga 1967
Martinenga is a highly regarded vineyard close to Rabajà and Asili.
I thought this wine was made by the Produttori only in this one vintage,
but Mannie Berk of Rare Wine Co. tells me there is a 1970 or 1971 Martinenga from Produttori.
If you have a photo, please send it to me.
My understanding is that around 1970, the owner,
Marchesi di Grésy, started his own estate,
Tenuta Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy,
now also known as
Azienda Agricola Martinenga,
and has since produced his own wines from this vineyard.
The name Martinenga
comes from the Villa Martis where the
Roman emperor Pertinax was born. It is the
face of Pertinax that is pictured in the medallion
on many Produttori wines (including this one).

The bottle on the left in both phtos is the 1967 Produttori Martinenga Riserva.
The middle bottle is a 1970 Marinenga bottling from Cerretto, made from purchased grapes.
The third bottle is a 1978 estate-bottled Martinenga from
Tenuta Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy.
