Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Albesani Santo Stefano 2011

Starting in 2008, the full vineyard name is now Albesani Vigna Santo Stefano rather than just Santo Stefano. Santo Stefano is a sub-vineyard of the Albesani vineyard in the Barbaresco commune of Neive. The name of the full vineyard is now required by law.

Starting in 2009, these labels no longer have the village name on the label. That is, these say just Albesani Vinga Santo Stefano rather than Albesani Santo Stefano di Neive as in the past.

Also starting in 2009, the individual numbering of bottles is gone as well. All of this is the result of the winery's interpretation of government regulations which started in 2010.

Sadly, 2011 is the last vintage Giacosa will make from this great vineyard. They have chosen not to renew their contract with Castello di Neive which owns the entire Santo Stefano vineyard.
